Post-treatment guide

Your Aftercare

Simple steps for recovery and pigmentation care for brown skin. Follow the timing and product instructions Mia Peel gave you at your appointment.

01 / Treatment day

When to rinse your peel

Leave your Mia Peel on for 8 hours unless your practitioner gave you a different wear time. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water only, without cleanser or rubbing. Leave the area product-free immediately after rinsing.

If you feel significant burning or discomfort while the peel is on, contact Mia Peel promptly. If you suspect a burn, seek urgent medical help.

02 / First 7 days

Initial skin recovery

For the first seven days, follow this routine on intact treated skin unless Mia Peel gave you different instructions. Start at your first scheduled morning or evening after rinsing off the peel.

Morning

Sebamed Baby Gentle Wash + Aquaphor

Gently wash with lukewarm water and Sebamed Baby Gentle Wash. Rinse, pat dry and apply a thin layer of Aquaphor.

Evening

Micellar water + Aquaphor

Gently wipe with micellar water on a soft cotton pad. Let the area dry, then apply a thin layer of Aquaphor.

Keep active products paused. Avoid picking, scrubbing, excessive heat and friction while the skin heals.

03 / Day 7 review

Check that your skin is calm and clear

Check for burning, stinging, redness, soreness, rawness, ongoing irritation, broken skin or active peeling. If any are present, hold off on corrective aftercare and contact Mia Peel for guidance.

If the area is fully healed and you were prescribed corrective products, follow your area guide below. Patch test as instructed before full-area use.

Area guide / 01

Intimate Area

Vulva, perianal area and inner thighs

Use products only on the treated external skin Mia Peel specified. For vulval treatment, keep to the treated outer labia. Keep products away from inner genital tissue and openings. Wear loose, breathable clothing to reduce friction.

On fully healed skin, patch test prescribed Clarity Cleanser and Corrective Concentrate separately on small areas of intact external skin. Watch for a reaction for 24–48 hours. If either area reacts, pause and contact Mia Peel.

Morning

Clarity Cleanser + Aquaphor

Apply Clarity Cleanser to the treated external skin with your fan brush. Leave it on for the time Mia Peel advised, then rinse well, pat dry and apply a thin layer of Aquaphor.

Evening

Micellar water + Corrective Concentrate

Gently wipe with micellar water on a soft cotton pad. Let the area dry and apply a thin layer of concentrate only to the external dark areas Mia Peel identified.

Area guide / 02

Body

Arms, legs, neck, back and underarms

Follow your prescribed routine for the treated area, such as the back, neck or underarms. Reduce rubbing from clothing and skip deodorant on underarms while they are irritated or peeling.

Morning

Deep Root Cleanser

Cleanse the treated body area as directed, then rinse thoroughly. Follow your practitioner’s sun protection guidance for exposed areas.

Evening

Corrective Concentrate

Apply a thin layer to the instructed dark areas only, following your prescribed frequency and patch-test instructions.

Area guide / 03

Face

Follow the face-specific instructions from your appointment. Keep products away from the eyes, eyelids and lips.

Morning

Clarity Cleanser + sunscreen

Gently cleanse with Clarity Cleanser as directed, rinse and pat dry. Follow with sunscreen according to your appointment instructions.

Evening

Corrective Concentrate

Apply a thin layer to fully healed skin, on the specific areas Mia Peel advised.

Understanding Your Pigmentation

Mia Peel aftercare focuses on the dark marks you can see. Finding out what triggered them can help you understand why they recur and what support may help.

What can trigger dark marks?

Dark marks can follow skin irritation, inflammation or ingrown hairs. This is called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Hormonal changes can also play a role in some types of pigmentation, such as melasma.

When to speak to your GP

If darkening is new, spreading, recurring or becoming thick or velvety, ask your GP to assess it. Based on the pattern and your symptoms, they can advise whether checks such as blood sugar or, if you have symptoms of low iron, an iron assessment are appropriate.

If you get ingrown hairs

If shaving or waxing repeatedly causes ingrown hairs, you can ask about laser hair removal once your skin has healed and Mia Peel has confirmed the timing. You can ask Laser Clinics UK whether your branch offers the Candela GentleMax Pro, and ask a practitioner experienced with brown skin about the 1064 nm Nd:YAG setting and a patch test.

Optional supplement information

These are optional products to discuss with a pharmacist or GP. Evidence for oral glutathione in post-peel pigmentation is limited. The vitamin C product is high-strength, and more than 1,000 mg per day can cause digestive side effects.
